Monday, September 25, 1905. Carlisle.
In the forenoon we studied hard on the Godhead as were going to treat it out to Bro. Porter's. After dinner we called on Sister Atkinson's, then went out to Wetheral. We took our time In walking out to Wetheral and studied as we went. We also gathered bramble berries on our way. When we arrived many of the Saints had gathered. Later others came and at 7:30 we began our meeting. We took up the Godhead and treated it In the meeting. It was very deep. After the meeting we started for Carlisle all walking. The distance was five miles. It was late when we arrived.
Tuesday, September 26, 1905. Carlisle.
In the forenoon we studied. In the afternoon went tracting. Had fine success. In the evening we went to Upperby to visit Sister Lightfoot. She was not home so we called on Bro. And Sister Sanders. After spending the evening we came home.
Wednesday, September 27, 1905. Carlisle.
The forenoon was spent at lodge. The afternoon was spent tracting. In the evening we went to Mutual after which Bro and Sister Lightfoot, Elder Everett and I went to Sister Atkinson's to reconcile some ill feelings. All was well and we spent the evening together then came home.
Thursday, September 28, 1905. Carlisle.
We spent the forenoon and part of the afternoon at lodge getting our work up to date and studying In the evening. We went up to Stanwix to visit Mr. Heath and family. We spent a most pleasant evening. Had tea with them, later In the evening came home.
Friday, September 29, 1905. Carlisle.
We spent the morning at the lodge. After dinner we went out tracting. Had good success. After finishing tracting we went up to Sister Atkinson's. While there we took tea. Leaving there we went up to Newtown. Called on Mrs. Nelson a little while. Then went into Mr. Cook's. Spent a nice evening. Took tea with them. Later we came home.
Saturday, September 30, 1905. Carlisle.
Spent the forenoon writing up my journal. In the afternoon we went to visit some of our investigators. Our first call was at 22 Time St. Mrs. Perseval. From there to Mrs. Walker's. thence to Mrs. Grassby's both of Lime St. We spent a most pleasant afternoon conversing on the Gospel. From there we came home. Had tea then went out to hold our St (Street) meeting, but the Cross was occupied by the Plymouth band. We were unable to hold meeting. We went from there to Sister Atkinson's spent the evening and came home.
Sunday, October 1, 1905. Carlisle.
Spent the forenoon In study. Also made out my monthly report. At 2:30 we commenced Sunday school at No 47. It being fast day, the theological class engaged In testimony bearing. I taught the Kindergarten class, Miss Nellie Atkinson, the first intermediate. After Sunday school, Elder Everett and I went down to 21 Garfield St. to see Mrs. Crowther's little girl who was very ill. We found she was In a very critical condition. We gave some advise as how to treat her for the illness then we left with a promise to return after our evening meeting. We went home. Had supper, then went to the Hall for our evening meeting. It began at 6:30. Elder Everett spoke first on the Gospel. I next spoke a short time on the Apostasy. After meeting Elder Everett, Bro. Lightfoot and I went down to Crowther's. Found the little girl had passed away. We comforted the bereaved as much as possible. The mother asked us to bury the child for her. We consented. Leaving there we went to Sister Atkinson's. Spent the evening, then home.
Monday, October 2, 1905. Carlisle.
In the forenoon I studied a short time. And In the afternoon went up to No. 7 Regent Terrace. Painted some boxes for Atkinson's. In the evening we went to Newtown to hold a cottage meeting at Mr. Cook's. There were quite a number present. I was first speaker subject the Gospel. Elder Everett next spoke on the character of the Latter-day Saints. After meeting Elder Everett and I remained to supper. We had a nice Gospel talk with Cook's then came home.
Tuesday, October 3, 1905. Carlisle.
The weather being quite stormy we were unable to do much tracting. So we spent considerable of the day at Lodge. In the evening we went down to Mrs. Crowther's to arrange for the funeral of her little girl. We spent the evening there then on our way home called at 7 Regent Terrace a short time to see about some Manuals, then we came home.
Wednesday, October 4, 1905. Carlisle.
Today we remained at lodge and studied. In the afternoon we went to Upperby. Called on Lightfoots's. From there back to Scotch St. to attend Mutual. We had a nice meeting. After Mutual we practised some funeral hymns to be used on the morrow. Afterwards came home.
Thursday, October 5, 1905. Carlisle.
This morning we went down town and hired two hacks [a vehicle that can be hired] to take us to the funeral. At 1 P.M. we went down to Mrs. Crowther's to arrange for the funeral. At 1:30 the services commenced. I presided. Elder Everett spoke first, Infant Justification and the duty's of adults who desire enter back into the Kingdom of Heaven. Bro. Lightfoot spoke next a few minutes. After which I spoke a short time. After which prayer was offered by Elder Everett. We then went to the cemetery. After sining a song, Elder Everett pronounced the dedicatory prayer and we dispersed. We were driven to Sister Atkinson's where we took tea and helped them In the Laundry a while. Leaving there we went to Newtown and spent a pleasant evening with Mr. & Mrs. Cook and friends. It was quite late when we came home.
Friday, October 6, 1905. Carlisle.
In the forenoon we went to Stanwix. Called at Heath's store and ordered some provisions. From there we went to Harraby Green. Called on Sister Taylor. Returned to lodge. Had dinner then went out tracting. We spent the evening In the lodge writing our journals.
Saturday, October 7, 1905. Carlisle.
In the forenoon we went down to Market. After coming home had dinner. In the afternoon we studied. In the evening, we went down to see Mrs. Carrother's [Crowther's] the lady who lost her little girl. From there we went to Sister Atkinson's, then home.
Sunday, October 8, 1905. Carlisle.
We spent the forenoon In study. At 2:30 we commenced our Sunday school at No 47 Scotch St there were quite a number present. After SS we went to lodge. Had dinner then returned at 6:30 and commenced our services. I was first speaker, subject Nature of the Gospel. Elder Everett next spoke, subject Necessary of Obedience to the Gospel. The hall was crowded. After meeting we went out on the Cross and held an open air meeting. There was a good crowd present. We had a nice meeting. After it was out we went to Sister Atkinson's. Spent the evening then came home.
